The Bauer Family have been associated with brahman cattle since the mid 1950’s.  The benefits of brahman cattle were first realised by the late W Ron Bauer while working as a meat works buyer and cattle dealer.  While travelling to “Waverley” to buy cattle, he saw Mr Bob Beak of “Wilangi” loading 700 bullocks onto 2 trains.  Mr Beak referred to these cattle as ‘Brahmas’ and Ron Bauer thought these cattle were far better than any other breed he had seen.  He was well qualified to make this call as he dealt in 17,500 cattle in that year from all areas of Queensland and all breeds popular at the time.  The Grampians & Amaroo herds were founded with bloodlines from Waverly, Glenprarie and Cherokee that were traceable back to the early importations.

Graham and Rosslyn Bauer carried on with these cattle and promoted them by showing brahman cattle all over the eastern states of Australia at a time when brahman cattle were not popular.  Showing ceased after the death of W Ron Bauer in 1985 and the family moved to western Qld in 1993 where Graham and Rosslyn continued to breed both stud and commercial cattle for many years.  Matthew Bauer along with his wife and two sons currently manage Greendale & Glenariff and continue the families quest for breeding genuine brahman and brahman infused adaptable, productive and fertile cattle.
